These four gigs are important to identify, because you should immediately know whether or not you have the skills to accomplish such tasks. Most writers will be able to do at least two of these four services for clients. Transcription requires good listening skills and a solid attention span. Blog writing requires a creative mind and an understanding of social media (and on the advanced end, SEO). Short story writing will tax a lot of your writing skills, but particularly your creativity and brevity. And multilingual translation requires in depth knowledge of both English and some other language, so that you understand the idioms and sayings involved.
These gigs should be in addition to the gigs that you really want to take off. There are plenty of ways to limit orders in the queue if you suddenly become more popular than you can handle. But there are precious few ways to get positive reviews and start up that initial cashflow. Take advantage of these as much as possible while you're climbing the Fiverr ladder.
Here are the four easiest gigs for freelance writers on Fiverr:
One of the hardest decisions that new Fiverr freelancers need to make is which gigs are worth their time. Your business plan should specifically mention which core skills you plan to market... but there's a lot of competition out there. It's possible that your 'Plan B' (or even Plans C, D, or E) will be easier to get started with, giving you those first vital reviews and some much appreciated cash flow before your main gig takes off.
In this course, I'm going to help you to identify four easy Fiverr gigs for writers, that will allow you to jumpstart your freelance career if you keep your standards and quality levels high. You'll be able to make some rapid steps towards your Level 1 Seller goals, which in turn will boost your searchability on Fiverr. With more searches comes more clicks, and you should be able to snowball any early popularity into long term popularity on the site.

Transcription services includes anything that takes some form of communication, normally in an audio format, and asks the Fiverr freelancer to turn that communication into some kind of text format.
The classic transcription gig offers to take an audio or video file and create subtitles for it (for use on YouTube, TikTok, in presentations, etc.). But almost as popular is the act of taking some kind of audio file (a recorded call, podcast, convention panel, meeting, etc.) and typing out everything that was said in order to make the event more accessible and more easily searchable.
But on Fiverr, those roles are reversed. Audio transcription is most popular thing that people search for in transcription services. So feel free to mention that you can transcribe YouTube videos, but keep your focus on audio transcription or audio-to-text services.
The reason why this is one of the easiest starter gigs on Fiverr is because all it takes is a good ear and accurate typing skills. It won't tax your creative mind much, but it can bring in regular pay checks if you get popular. Even if it doesn't become one of your main foci, you can use it to rack up early positive ratings. Don't engage in a race to the bottom price, though. People will pay a fair amount for reliable transcription services. Have a look at what the Level 1 sellers are charging and try to stick to that level.
Even professional writers (and Fiverr Pros) do transcription work when getting started on a new platform. Remember your reputation doesn't follow you from other platforms onto Fiverr. You need those quick wins to build positive reviews and a good reputation. Transcription is one of the most common ways to do that.
Blog writing is the most common content creation gig for freelance writers on Fiverr. It involves researching topics that apply to a website or company's target audience, and then writing a short and engaging piece on that subject. Some blogs are more casual and opinion oriented, while others are more scientific and require some amount of real world knowledge about the subjects in question.
If you're just getting started in the field of blog writing and you need a crash course, Maddie Cohen's Learn class will have you up, running, and Fiverr certified in two hours. But remember this is one of those 'lifetime to master' skills. You'll get the basics from Maddie, then you have to compete with some of the best in the business if you want to make this your primary focus.
The reason blog writing is a great gateway gig is that you can impress a client with well presented content in the 400 to 1,000 word range. Sure, some blog writing is longer, and that's great for your income. But people are much more likely to give you a shot with a 500 word piece that costs them under $40. It's not much of a gamble on their part, and if you do a good job it could result in half a dozen additional articles and more importantly half a dozen positive reviews!
The next step after getting the hang of blog writing is SEO writing. That's a longer term goal that requires more specialist training, but if you wanted to jump right into it you can try Ian Cleary's Content Strategy course on Fiverr Learn. He angles his strategy more towards the SEO side of the business.
Still, general blog writing is a far easier gig to execute well and get those early positive reviews. If you have any specialist knowledge, mention it in the gig and see if you can score some clients who are in a related field.
Resume writing is surprisingly popular on Fiverr. Don't ask me why.
Cover letter and resume writing and editing can be a great way to dip your toes in the freelancing pond. It's mostly template driven, with a few common sense rules to follow, at least at the most basic level. If you choose to specialize in a particular field, you might attract more specific clients. In that case, you should have a second resume writing gig that's more general as well.
Grateful job seekers are not shy about giving good reviews if you do a detailed and careful job. That's one of the main reasons to pick resume writing over some of the more lucrative but niche gigs out there. The $25 to $40 that is typical for a simple CV or resume isn't as important as the progress that it can represent towards your Level 1 Seller goals.
This gig can quickly branch out into things like LinkedIn profile writing and application writing for jobs, universities, and grants to name a few. And these are even mildly creative, allowing you to present each candidate or business in the best possible light. Helping other people get ahead (while charging a reasonable fee of course) can even make you feel good at the end of the day, which will help your performance tomorrow.
Multilingual translation services are great if you speak more than one language fluently. Please don't rely on automatic translation services, they do not understand context. It's the most certain way to get a series of one star reviews and utterly destroy your chances of being taken seriously or advancing on Fiverr.
But if you do speak multiple languages fluently, translation services are a goldmine. Arabic and Chinese translation to and from English are some of the more lucrative ways to rack up five star reviews and make money in the process. Other languages that rate highly on Fiverr include Japanese, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and French. And while from time to time you'll get gigs to translate directly from one of those languages to another, most translation gigs rely on you having impeccable English. If you do not, work on it. Your English language skills are key to advancing on Fiverr in the long term.
I'm not multilingual, sadly, but looking at the statistics and search engine data, I can tell you without a doubt that multilingual translation services are one of the easiest Fiverr gigs to sell if you have the right skillset and a quick mind.
The next step is learning how and when to raise your prices on Fiverr if you want to avoid losing the cash reserves and reputation that you've worked so hard to build. Or if you've done that, head over to my free course hub to select your next topic.
