By search volume, Fiverr absolutely focuses on 'nuts and bolts' tasks over long, grandiose projects. This list reflects that. There's also far too much competition in some sectors, such as generic 'website development' and 'game development'. There's a big race to the bottom in those fields as well, with a ton of overseas talent flooding the market at lower prices because of lower cost of living.
The four gigs that we're focusing on require specific skills and tend to have a far more narrow scope. The scope will either be 'achieve this specific task' or 'fix this specific problem' rather than working as part of an Agile team on a long project. More often than not, you'll want to be looking for lucrative piece-work that will gain the trust (and hopefully positive reviews) of your client. When you become known as the go-to coder for specific tasks, word will get around.
Create these gigs in addition to the more specific coding expertise that you might have. Do you possess a unique talent in developing automated tests for AI populated databases? Great! Mention it in your gig FAQs, offer add-ons in the appropriate gigs, and make a specific gig for that talent. But make sure you cover one or more of these bread and butter gigs as well, if you want to build a reputation.
Here are the four easiest gigs for freelance coders on Fiverr:
Coders on Fiverr need to quickly hone in on a money making skills that will net them some five star reviews. The competition between coders is fierce, and the ones that see success have carved out specific niches for themselves. We'll be talking about the more general coding gigs that sell well, but if you have a more specific sub-specialty, you should start pushing it early on.
Generally speaking, the development fads that you see in the press are hot for literally two months. If you think all of your gigs will be about crypto, blockchain, and NFTs, you're about to be disappointed. The actual search volume for those gigs on Fiverr is miniscule compared to the topics we're about to cover.

Python is one of the most in-demand languages on Fiverr. Almost half the top search phrases in programming contain the word 'python' in some context. Everything from scripting, to automation, to software testing, to dev ops deployments are hotter than lava just now.
And there are lots of ways to showcase your specialties here. The general realm of Python contains specific stuff like PyQT5, Django, Selenium, Xonsh, and all manner of web scraping and bot automation. Your gig can be as general as 'I'll script in Python' or as specific as 'I'll program your Selenium bots to perform regression testing on your site'.
Even a simple, well commented script can go from $50 to $100. And more complex scripts can go for hundreds. Speed, accuracy, skill, and clarity all factor into this payday. But there's plenty of work out there, and frankly not enough talented Python scripters to take it on.
API integration has become a cornerstone of small businesses. By leveraging the APIs of companies with more resources, you can do some amazing things. That's why whenever you hear about an API change in a big search engine or social media company, there's always an uproar. Things break. Certain services might become paid-only.
In short, gigs that help smaller companies integrate their operations with vital services are hot... and might always be hot. As mentioned, you'll want to make a general gig covering API integration, but you'll want to become an expert in a few popular APIs, and mention those. For example: Google Cloud / Maps / Search, Reddit, X, Azure, Netflix, YouTube, and SoundCloud.
This gig does require some flexibility. It's suitable for a jack of all trades with at least a bit of network packet troubleshooting skill. If you want to dial up the pressure and the fees, you could offer emergency API troubleshooting and debugging. Some companies literally cannot function without third party API integration. You can take advantage of this, and build a reputation as a steely eyed problem solver at the same time.
One thing about Shopify: It's everywhere. The more you know about implementing and integrating it into various storefronts, the more opportunities that you'll have as a Fiverr freelancer. Companies of all sizes and track records need storefront and inventory development.
On top of that, periodic feature adds and store management can be offered as a subscription service. This will allow companies to introduce new features, products, and advertisements that are integrated with Shopify on a regular basis.
The scope of your Shopify gigs range from developing custom code, to Shopify API integration, to maintenance. Make sure you check out rates of other Shopify experts. It's a good field in late 2023, and should continue to be as such for the foreseeable future.
WordPress is not a great medium for fast, performant websites. But not all sites need to be lightning fast. The users who choose WordPress are looking for functionality and easy maintenance over speed. And there are hundreds of thousands of those users, many of whom are looking for help with their sites.
The usual issues that you can help them with are performance (Google requires certain minimum benchmarks to rank highly on SEO), broken plugins, and emergency site restoration or recreation. The last might involve some security aspects, like hack recovery and disaster recovery / business continuity operations.
By becoming an expert in WordPress debugging, you open the door towards larger gigs ranging from technical design and implementation to new plugin creation. There's hundreds of millions of dollars flowing in and around technical WordPress work. Stake your claim.
